We are happy to welcome Dejana from Banja Luka, our third SubBIOCODE intern!
She will focus on the overview of subterranean biodiversity in Southeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina. Her work will include mapping species distributions of selected subterranean species, analyzing species richness and interpreting those results in view of species protection status and threats. We started with setting the goals of her work and learning GIS (geographic information systems), needed for spatial analysis. Dejana also joined two fieldwork excursions, where she helped to collect Niphargus specimens for a research project on their locomotion.
