Od samog po\u010detka speleobiologije istra\u017eiva\u010di su nastojali razrije\u0161iti pitanje podrijetla podzemne faune. Desetlje\u0107a istra\u017eivanja donijela su odgovor na to pitanje za veliki broj podzemnih \u017eivotinja, ali za dosta njih izvor jo\u0161 uvijek nije jasan.\u00a0 Jedan od takvih je i rod podzemnih raku\u0161aca <em>Typhlogammarus, <\/em>\u010diji su najbli\u017ei srodnici prepoznati me\u0111u podzemnom faunom vi\u0161e od 2000 km udaljenog Kavkaza. Kako bi odgovorili na pitanje njegovog podrijetla, prikupili smo vi\u0161e od 80 uzoraka tog roda, te ih nadopunili uzorcima srodnih rodova; <em>Metohia, Accubogammarus, Echinogammarus, Zenkevitchiia. <\/em>Te smo uzorke upotrijebili za ekstrakciju DNK te umno\u017eavanje mitohondrijskih i nuklearnih gena koje \u0107emo upotrijebiti u filogenetskim analizama. <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h4>Dakako, pitanje izvora ovog podzemnog roda nije jedino na koje nastojimo odgovoriti. Uzorke \u0107emo upotrijebiti i za reviziju ove jedinstvene vrste i roda. <em>Typhlogammarus mrazeki <\/em>je monotipska vrsta, \u0161to zna\u010di jedina toga roda, i jedan je od najve\u0107ih podzemnih raku\u0161aca u dinarskom kr\u0161u. Ono \u0161to je posebno zanimljivo je uzorak njegove ra\u0161irenosti, koji se prote\u017ee od Gorskog kotara u Hrvatskoj pa sve do Skadarskog jezera u Crnoj Gori. Neke od populacija ve\u0107 su bile prepoznate kao morfolo\u0161ki razli\u010dite, te su bile opisane kao posebna podvrsta (<em>T. m. heteropalpus<\/em> Karaman, 1984). Kasnije je status ove podvrste bio poni\u0161ten. Analize podzemnih vrsta sa sli\u010dnom ra\u0161ireno\u0161\u0107u (<em>Niphargus, Troglocaris<\/em>) pokazale su postojanje vi\u0161e kripti\u010dnih vrsta, koje ne mo\u017eemo razlikovati bez upotrebe molekularnih tehnika.
